IIRPS VU invites you to a public lecture “Freedom of expression online“ by the lawyer and program manager of the European Council Oleg Soldatov, which will be held on April 26th, Friday, 1:00 p.m. in room 302. Oleg Soldatov has worked as a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights and currently heads the program of European Council in Moldova, lectures on human rights at various universities around the world and is a researcher at Milan Bocconi University. In a recent publication, O. Soldatov examines the situation of freedom of expression in Russia.
In the lecture “Freedom of expression online”, Oleg Soldatov will talk about the most recent and significant cases of freedom of expression in the European Court of Human Rights. Are news portals responsible for the content of anonymous comments? How to evaluate a prohibition of YouTube in Turkey? These are just a couple of questions that will be discussed in this lecture. The lecturer will also provide useful practical insights into the European standards of freedom of expression.
