IIRPS VU invites you to a lecture by Minister of the European Affairs of Denmark Nicolai Wammen. He will speak of “The Copenhagen Criteria and Europe’s way ahead”.
In this lecture, Denmark’s Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Nicolai Wammen, will provide insights into the EU’s ongoing enlargement process and discuss the Copenhagen Criteria, which were adopted 20 years ago in the Danish capital. To what extent has EU enlargement been responsible for reshaping the political map of Europe? What has been the impact of the 2004 and 2007 EU enlargement rounds, and which lessons have been learned in the process? Mr. Wammen will also touch upon on the current economic difficulties in Europe and ways to confront these challenges.
Nicolai Wammen holds MSc degree in Political Science, University of Aarhus. He has served as Mayor of the Municipality of Aarhus (2006–2011), Member of Parliament (2001–2005), Member of Aarhus City Council (1998–2006).
