This book looks into the professional activity of a social worker through the perspective of adaptive leadership, which combines the ideas of four conceptual approaches: systemic, biological, service and psychotherapeutic (Heifetz, 1994). The concept of adaptive leadership reveals ways of action that could help solve difficult and complex social issues, bring people together to tackle demanding challenges and, thus, enable them to flourish (Heifetz et al., 2009). This kind of leadership is inseparable from the actions of a professional social worker.
