Project idea

My voice LT (Mano balsas LT) is a rational voting system on the Internet. On this page, people are invited to take a short test and find out which politicians or parties are closest to their political views. The online election compass www.manobalsas.lt has been operating since 2008 and has already been adapted for eight elections in Lithuania - the Seimas in 2008, 2012 and 2016, Presidential 2009, 2014 and 2019, as well as the European Parliament in 2009 and 2019 . Online election compasses, gaining popularity around the world are made for voters, policy observers, and anyone interested in election topics. By answering the political opinion test questions on the website, prepared according to national and world issues, it is possible to find out personal political priorities and compare them with the priorities of the politicians or parties participating in the elections. The questionnaire is based on questions of public importance from various fields - education, health care, economics, foreign policy, culture. The results of the test are presented on a map of political values, which allows for the analysis and comparison of responses from different cross-sections and the sharing of this information publicly. It is hoped that people, knowing the position of politicians on issues of concern to them, will be able to make a rational decision as to which politician will be able to best represent them.

Participating institutions

The project is implemented by the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University and the Lithuanian Branch of Transparency International. The information partner of the project is the news portal Delfi.lt. The project is supported by the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Lithuania.
