Project idea
In literature, the question of priests’ political influence on the faithful is described as “implied but barely researched”. Therefore, this research seeks to expand the field of research and to delve deeper into the evaluation of priests’ political influence from the perspective of faithful people. In addition, the research could also reveal the broader impact of the Roman Catholic Church on politics. This research project is oriented towards rural areas to ensure greater precision of insights and to employ relatively close ties of rural communities to the benefit of the research. Therefore, the researcher will carry out qualitative interviews with Catholic inhabitants of certain rural areas in Lithuania. Implementation of the aim of research will contribute to this barely investigated, but important academic field as well as will help the student to dig deeper in his field of interests and gain practical competences of carrying out a research.
