Vainius received his PhD in Political Science from the University of Sussex in 2020, with a thesis on the politics of citizenship in Central and Eastern Europe. During his PhD years, Vainius taught courses on Migration Policy and the Far Right and Research Methods. In addition, Vainius teaches courses on Migration and Citizenship (elective), Quantitative Research Methods (Global Challenges in Politics programme) and Causal Analysis: Quantitative and Mixed Methods Research (MSc in Public Policy Analysis programme) at VU TSPMI. Vainius also has more than seven years of experience working on public policy evaluations (mainly quantitative) commissioned by institutions in Lithuania, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
