Marija yra Vilniaus universiteto fondo stipendininkė ir institute atlieka podoktorantūros stažuotę. Marija Vilniaus universitete baigė politikos mokslų bakalauro studijas, Oksfordo universitete su pagyrimu baigė Rusijos ir Rytų Europos magistro studijas ir 2023 m. apsigynė filosofijos daktaro disertaciją visuomenės sutarties idėjos Baltijos valstybėse tema.

Marija atlieka tyrimus politinės ir ekonominės antropologijos srityje ir tyrinėja valstybės ir visuomenės santykį Rytų Europos regione ir Baltijos šalyse. Mokslinių interesų laukas apima valstybės antropologiją, (post-)socializmą ir neoliberalizmą, taip pat pilietybės, darbo ir mokesčių temas.

Marija priklauso tarptautiniam Mokesčių antropologijos tinklui, su kuriuo šiuo metu dirba ties projektu „Mokesčiai, visuomenė ir žmonės“ (angl. Tax, Society, and People), kurio rėmuose pilietiniam ugdymui kuria mokomąją medžiagą apie mokesčius.
